I navigate the sea, led by the twin stars that are so like your eyes, deep-blue and all-knowing, d   r    o     w       n         i          n           g               me , more unyielding than the flood that beats across the hull of the ship that is my heart.

I see the sails of a ferryboat, made out of nightmares and sea fog, the outline of a lost dream razorsharp against a stormlit sky.

The waters lie silently, motionless, a pitch-black ocean calmed by the starlight reflecting in its darkness, all shining and glittering like pearls and all the things I never wished for.

There's an ocean in my chest, its waves rolling and roaring and thundering against the motionless cliffs of my heart.

Fervent voices, speaking low of all the things we lost to the wild, wide sea, drowned out by the monumental motion of the pitch-black waters. Paper cut figures standing on the shoreline, hats off and smiles long worn out, waving to those who'll never return from the bottom of the restless sea.

You came here with your problems, hopes & dreams, burning at the stake for being just who you are. A thousand times we talked; a thousand times you told me "it will get better soon". You just believed in miracles although you never saw one happen. Time flew by, seasons changed, and so did you, too; from a sorry little thing, like a bagful of tears, to a passionate woman with an iron will to go out & fight.
